Czech eco-innovator GREENWOOL.CZ has established a strategic cooperation with the traditional Czech company PRECIOSA ORNELA and together they are launching a globally unique type of fertilizer. They are the first in the world to start producing an organic-mineral fertilizer combining sheep wool with a glass component based on phosphate fertilizer.

The project team of PRECIOSA ORNELA and the Landscape Research Institute in Průhonice played a key role in the development of the product, specifically Ing. Martin Dubský, Ph.D., whose professional leadership made it possible to combine the properties of organic and mineral components into a functional and sustainable solution. It was Dubský, who connected the glassmakers from PRECIOSA ORNELA with the eco-innovators from GREENWOOL.CZ.

The new compound fertilizer combines the natural benefits of sheep wool – gradual release of nitrogen and other nutrients, water retention, and support of soil structure – with Glass Fertilizer, which introduces into the compound fertilizer primarily gradually released (storage) phosphorus and potassium, which PRECIOSA ORNELA has been developing and producing for a long time. The result is a product that brings higher efficiency of plant nutrition and, at the same time, a healthy and caring approach to the soil and the environment.

GREENWOOL.CZ, the holder of the “Innovator of the Year 2025” award in the Hospodářské noviny poll, thus confirms its role as a leader in the field of ecological solutions. In 2026, the company is further expanding its portfolio with innovative sheep wool pellets, which are enriched not only with a glass component but also with other natural materials. These include, for example, biochar from the Czech eco-innovator CirkusC or insect frass. Fertilizer from sheep wool enriched with biochar is particularly suitable for planting urban and suburban greenery.

PRECIOSA ORNELA and GREENWOOL.CZ has filed a joint patent application for the Glass Fertilizer with Sheep Wool technology. Intellectual property protection is one of the important parts of the strategy for GREENWOOL.CZ, the formation and implementation of which is helped by the support, networking, and consultancy from the incubation programs in which the founders of GREENWOOL.CZ participated in ČSOB Start it and is participating in Marc-Impact by Startup Kitchen.

“Our goal is to bring functional, ecological fertilizers to the market that surpass traditional mineral fertilizers through a more sustainable production method, the use of local renewable materials, but above all, their benefits for plants, soil and the health of all of us. With what we do, we want to contribute to the restoration of the Czech landscape and thus to the health of the entire planet.”

This cooperation represents a significant step towards sustainable agriculture and shows that Czech companies have the potential to set the global direction in the field of ecological innovations.

GREENWOOL.CZ is a Czech innovative company that has been developing and producing organic fertilizers from sheep wool since 2023. Its goal is to bring sustainable solutions for agriculture, horticulture, and urban greenery. PRECIOSA ORNELA is a traditional Czech manufacturer of a wide range of glass products, from glass rods and sticks, technical and utility glass, to all types of glass beads and beads, which has been dedicated to the development of glass technology for a long time. As part of this development, it has developed special fertilizers based on phosphate glass.
