Czech company Filuta AI, which develops tools based on artificial intelligence (AI), has raised $4.2 million (approximately CZK 90 million) in a seed funding round. The lead investor in this round is Rockaway Ventures, followed by Tarpan Capital and Lion Beat Capital, among others. Filuta AI will use the funds primarily to create new jobs and accelerate the company’s growth.

“We will significantly expand our team – in September, we should grow from 33 up to 43 people, including 20 PhDs in mathematics and artificial intelligence and four professors specializing in artificial intelligence, who are recognized as internationally acclaimed leaders in their field. This will create one of the strongest AI development teams in the Czech Republic. It will allow us to significantly shorten product development cycles and further accelerate our growth,” says Filip Dvořák, founder of Filuta AI.

Filuta AI is dedicated to the development of advanced tools enabling the commercial use of composite artificial intelligence. It offers a platform that allows the creation of complex AI solutions, such as the creation of autonomous agents for testing digital simulations. Filuta AI owns several patented composite artificial intelligence solutions that protect this technology in the gaming and electronic toys segment, in the aviation and automotive industries, in the defense industry (military simulators), and other areas.

“The Filuta AI team has created a technologically dominant product, but most importantly, they are targeting a clear problem area faced by game developers and enabling them to achieve significant cost savings. Additionally, we have found that this problem isn’t unique to game developers, and so Filuta AI has the opportunity to reach an even larger market in the future,” Max Palko, Principal at Rockaway Ventures, comments on the investment, adding: “Filuta AI has thus positioned itself alongside our other underinvested startups based on transformative technologies led by artificial intelligence.”

The main benefit of deploying composite AI is a multi-fold increase in efficiency. Composite AI combines different AI technologies and techniques to create a more complex and capable system. As a result, it can solve highly complex tasks and is both faster and more accurate than conventional machine learning, which is still often equated with AI. “A specific example from the gaming industry illustrates this. Here, a total of 72 testers needed three weeks to test a new game, while the deployment of AI makes it possible to reduce this time to two days,” explains Filip Dvořák, adding: “Our goal is to capture more than ten percent of the global market in this area.”

“We haven’t come across a startup with such strong fundamentals and growth potential in a long time, and the resulting risk-to-reward ratio was simply impossible to overlook. Filuta has the parameters of a global startup: it is a technology leader and disruptor in its field, offers a highly scalable solution with reach beyond the gaming industry, targets huge markets with a clear demand, and is backed by an exceptionally capable and determined team led by its founder,” says Ladislav Šelepa of Tarpan Partners, which managed the investment round and invested in FILUTA AI itself.Breaking into the world of symbolic AI is not easy at all. Of course, only time will tell if we have hit upon another Czech unicorn. But at this point, we believe in its success and are proud to be part of it,” adds Ladislav Šelepa.

Symbolic AI works with models explicitly described by systems of equations, where the outputs can always be fully explained and audited (e.g. predicate calculus). In addition, subsymbolic AI (neural networks, language models) is inspired by the reasoning of the human brain and acts as a statistical aggregate which is only as good as the input data. Composite AI is then the science of automatically composing symbolic and subsymbolic models to efficiently solve practical real-world problems. Symbolic AI is, for example, the most efficient modeling approach for causal reasoning, where language models fail, but language models are instead useful for creating interfaces of communication with the user or translating between two well-defined symbolic models.

Filuta AI was founded in 2022 and just a year later secured a record-breaking pre-seed investment of nearly CZK 56 million. The company’s goal is to prepare for a Series A investment round in the second half of 2026.
