Czech healthcare startup Kardi Ai has reached another milestone. In Budapest, it won the Central European Startup Awards 2025, the regional branch of the Global Startup Awards, earning the title Best AI-enabled Startup of 2025. Thanks to this victory, it advances to the global finals of one of the world’s largest startup competitions, proving that Czech innovation has the potential to transform lives on an international scale.

Kardi Ai uses artificial intelligence for long-term ECG monitoring, allowing it to detect serious heart arrhythmias and other issues early—problems that short-term methods often miss. The solution, powered by a mobile app with its own AI model, has already helped identify more than 250 severe cases in time. “It’s not just about technology. It’s about the fact that thanks to our device, 250 people have already uncovered serious heart problems that would otherwise have gone unnoticed and posed a major risk. That’s 250 significantly improved—or even saved—lives. And that is the greatest reward for us,” says Vlastimil Hrabal, CEO of Kardi Ai.

The startup has already gained the trust of more than 2,500 users and is now preparing for international expansion. In its latest investment round, it raised a total of €1.6 million from Purple Ventures, BrightCap Ventures, DEPO Ventures, Garage Angels, Lumus Investment Collective, and a Czech angel investor.

The company’s leadership has also been strengthened by Vlastimil Hrabal, who, after successfully serving as COO, has now taken on the role of CEO. He brings international experience and a strategy focused on both domestic and global growth. Starting this fall, he plans to significantly strengthen Kardi Ai’s position in the Czech market, where the startup already works with 130 cardiologists and 33 hospitals.

The Central European Startup Awards span 18 countries, including the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, and Slovenia. Each year, the competition recognizes outstanding startups, innovators, and individuals who are driving the business world forward across 12 categories. Winners are chosen by a professional jury along with public voting. They then compete in the global finals of the Global Startup Awards. For Kardi Ai, the victory also means advancing to the global stage of the competition.
