Czech Startup Veriteus, that Uncovers Fraud Using Artificial Intelligence, is now Backed by Czech Founders VC

The Czech startup Veriteus develops tools that help organizations detect fraudulent behavior in time – situations where someone deliberately distorts the truth. It uses AI analysis of voice, responses in forms, video, and images.

The solution targets environments where trust is key: from insurance claims and HR to security clearances. Veriteus has now secured investment from Czech Founders VC as part of the Sherpa accelerator program and is preparing its first commercial deployment.

“Decision-making in companies, institutions, and security forces is often based on intuition and routine. We are introducing a tool that enables the identification of risky or misleading statements in real time – whether it’s the wording of a response, voice expression, or non-verbal signals,” explains Tomáš Šebesta, CSO and co-founder of Veriteus.

Built on science, not intuition

Veriteus is built on a combination of artificial intelligence, behavioral science, and experience from security processes. Detection of false statements takes place through three main modules: analysis of form responses, voice, and video. Each of them works independently, but they can be combined into an integrated solution.

“We wanted a tool that wouldn’t just be reactive. Most of today’s systems can detect fraud only retrospectively. We work with what a person says, how they say it, and in what context – already during the statement,” adds Šebesta.

The startup has already completed the first operational version of its questionnaire module and is testing voice analysis on real data from call centers. The first pilot is running with a Czech insurance company, and joint projects with other partners from the insurance and security sectors are under discussion.

Veriteus is led by founders with deep expertise in product development, data platforms, innovation, and security. The team brings together product leadership from companies like Astratex, Aukro, and Home Credit, along with enterprise SaaS experience from platforms such as wflow and Emplifi.

The team is also complemented by experts in criminology, intelligence services, and behavioral research – former members of security services and specialists from university research centers.

Accelerated by Czech Founders VC

Veriteus has been accepted into the exclusive Sherpa program, organized by Czech Founders VC, founded by successful founders who provide the new generation of startups not only with funding but also with active mentoring. The program includes an investment of EUR 40,000 in the form of a convertible loan and mentoring from startup founders behind billion-dollar companies such as Mews, Brand Embassy, or CDN77.

“Veriteus brings innovation to an area that has traditionally been very analog. Their solution has real potential to change the way insurance companies and public institutions approach fraud prevention and statement verification,” says Sherpa head Adam Bočev.

By the end of the year, Veriteus aims to complete the multimodal version of the platform and secure its first commercial deployment. The startup is also preparing a pre-seed investment round that will allow it to expand the team and prepare for international expansion.

The long-term goal of Veriteus is to become a trusted tool for verifying statements across sectors – from insurance to public procurement to recruitment and security checks. “We believe in a world where honest people are not disadvantaged by those who deceive, and where decisions affecting lives are not based solely on intuition. Truth has its value. We help protect it,” concludes Šebesta
