The tool aims to address the problem of so-called “hallucinations” in general AI models, which can generate inaccurate or unverified information. PrimVeterinary relies on licensed veterinary textbooks, professional journals, and clinical guidelines. Each claim is supplemented with a specific source, and numerical data — such as drug dosages — are also verified.
“General AI tools fabricate roughly one in five academic citations. They provide answers that could cause serious harm in 23 percent of cases, and they often mix up knowledge about humans and animals,”
Ondřej Kuchta, Co-Founder at PrimVeterinary
The startup has formed partnerships with two of the largest veterinary publishers and collaborates with an international group of experts from both academia and clinical practice. The product focuses on providing support for clinical decision-making, although, according to its founders, responsibility always remains with the veterinarian.
After four months of testing, more than 2,000 veterinarians in the United States and the United Kingdom are using the platform, according to Kuchta. Users include university staff as well as professionals from major veterinary networks. The service is available free of charge to veterinary professionals.
According to Ondrej Kuchta’s LinkedIn post, users are from the majority of universities: UC Davis, Cornell, RVC, Edinburgh, and large practice groups like Banfield, VCA, Bond Vet, and more. And backed by an amazing KAYA VC team, the investors behind Docplanner.
