The Adam platform has had a year full of groundbreaking milestones in 2024: From Europe to Australia, multimillion investment, a new profession, and massive growth

It expanded beyond Europe for the first time, secured an investment of 75 million CZK, and doubled both its size and team. The company's revenue surpassed 200 million CZK, confirming the growing demand for digitalized craft services.

The Czech startup Adam, focused on the digitalization of trades, has had another successful year. It expanded beyond Europe for the first time, launching painting services in Perth, Australia. It also introduced a new electrician vertical in a record-breaking three days. The platform’s rapid growth is further confirmed by surpassing 200 million CZK in revenue.

„This year has once again been a breakthrough for us in many ways. Launching another vertical brings us closer to our goal—making it possible for anyone to build an entire house with Adam, simply and stress-free. Our successful expansion into Australia shows us that the challenges in the trades industry we see in the Czech Republic exist globally, and that our solution is the right one,” reflects co-founder Roman Sysel.

In 2024, Adam focused on further expansion and improving its existing services. By the end of the year, the company was operating in 82 cities. In addition to growing its team in Europe, Adam also opened an office in Hyderabad, India.

Australia was a big step for us—it’s the farthest country from the Czech Republic. After an initial test phase, where we explored multiple markets worldwide, we chose Australia due to its promising results. Because of the time zone differences, we looked for the best solution and decided to build a team in India, which has a large pool of talent and is closer to our working hours. We also believe that having an Indian team will serve as a gateway to expanding into other countries in the region. There’s definitely a lot to look forward to,” explains co-founder Jakub Dvořák.

In addition to painting, this year the platform also focused on renovations and the launch of a new vertical. Full renovations, following last year’s expansion, are now available in more than 10 European cities, and the demand for these services is growing rapidly. Electricians have completed their pilot phase, and for the upcoming year, they plan, along with renovations, a fast and flexible expansion.

I’m happy that the pilot in Prague was successful, and we can see that demand is growing organically from other cities. Following the example of painting, we want to test additional cities across the Czech Republic and expand into other countries. We plan an aggressive expansion and aim to be active in 10 countries by the end of June, both in renovations and with electricians,” comments Sysel on the expansion.

Adam’s excellent results in 2024 also brought in a new investment of 75 million CZK from the British fund Brighteye, which focuses on investments in startups. This investment will be used for the company’s significant expansion in 2025.

Adam plans to use the investment to streamline and automate internal processes. “We began working on the first version of the internal system in December and are already testing its initial version. We plan to fully transition to it as soon as possible this year. In addition to the system, we also aim to improve the overall quality of the final product and raise the standard of what is offered in the market. We are gathering feedback from clients and based on it, we are looking for simple and clear solutions,” responds Dvořák.

Every year, we push the boundaries of what is possible. This year, we showed that we can expand not only in Europe but also to new continents. In 2025, we want to accelerate this pace even further, at least three times faster, and continue improving our service to make it as simple and efficient as possible for both customers and craftsmen,” concludes Sysel.

Europe has never had a talent problem. We produce world-class STEM graduates at a rate that rivals the United States, and our startups-per-capita numbers are neck-and-neck with Silicon Valley. Yet, for decades, we have suffered from a “legal friction” that acts as a gravity well, pulling our most successful companies across the Atlantic.

DYPE is a Czech success story: a small startup that made it big both here and in the United States. Now, the company is looking to make it happen a second time with a new startup, as well as trying to help others emulate its success; I chatted with Marián Tomko, DYPE’s director, at the Opero coworking space to find out more.
